Well it seems this blogging thing is harder than it looks! Ive hardly had a chance to post lately (mainly because of my new job! woo hoo!) but while my mac is saving images and running soooo slooowly I thought Id try and get back into the swing of posting! I do have a few images Id love to post but Im sadly not allowed so for now just check out Cedrics Blog o Rama which you can find on the right with my other fav links. Cedric’s is probly one of the best blogs out there at the moment for illustrators and my personal favourite for the last year now! I’ll be back soon with some new work (hopefully)!

Food, glorious food…
1 12 2007Alot of my work in the past has had something to do with food, don’t ask me why but I ended up working on a number of projects that were food related. Here’s some examples of a few posters I have worked on that aim to raise awareness of the dangerous levels of fat and salt in takeaway meals and fast food. (You may not be able to read it here but if you click on the image you should be able to read all of the text as the black and white poster uses an article from a local newspaper on the subject of dangerous levels of salt and fat in takeaway meals to make up the word salt and the word fat)
This campaign was followed by a project that aimed to educate school children on the subject of healthy eating. A study was carried out that showed that many children in primary schools around England did not know what a number of everyday fruits and vegetables looked like so to attack this problem I designed a simple game of happy families that used fruits personified as super heroes. A game based on the Top Trumps card game was also designed, check out my earlier post to see samples of this too! As always, any comments will be really appreciated!

Kicking off Christmas
1 12 2007So its that time again (already!) and I thought I would kick off the festive season with this brilliant piece I found on the Drawn website…
http://www.thunderchunky.co.uk/xmasproject/
It contains a holiday-flavoured illustration from a different creator every day in December. The project is from 2006, but it rocks and should get everyone in the festive spirit. If I was a bigger blog Id love to do something similar this year, let me know if anyone is interested!

Some fictional advertising…
30 11 2007Whilst taking part in a masters course in graphic design last year I worked on a number of advertising campaigns as part of a project that aimed to shed some light on some multinational companies and their not so squeaky clean work practices. Below are a few of the adverts I came up with that aim to show the reader that companies such as Starbucks are not as squeaky clean as their advertising campaigns may suggest. They have, in the past been linked with the subject of poor working conditions for employees and unfair wages for bean growing farmers. Naomi Klein has written a brilliant book entitled “No Logo” and a lot of the subjects she discusses are illustrated within the images below.
(Please note: All artwork is purely fictional and based on a sole opinion of the author)

First Post!
28 11 2007So…this is my first ever post in the world of blogging. Its kinda scary putting your work online for the world to see but hey, here it goes. I’m planning on adding some of my past work and then updating the blog on a regular basis with sketches, ideas etc so please feel free to comment on any of my work, any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
For starters, Ive posted some of my favourite pieces of my own work from the past year (sorry for those who saw my first original post, I had to take it down as I haven’t yet received confirmation from the client to use the work!) This is a card game that aims to educate school children on the benefits of healthy eating through the use of superheroes who are each based on a good or a bad food source!
